Is there any way to completely remove messenger from my system? I am running XP Home and I have OE6

Just go to c:\program files and rename the messenger folder.... I've renamed mine messenger1 for example. Once you've done this, messenger will never pop-up and annoy you again.

I managed to rename the folder eventually, rebooted and it seems to not be starting up now -Thanks for that!

VoG: It was Windows Messenger - I had assumed it was the same thing?

Go to click here and type messenger in the box and click the search button. Lots to choose from, this is an example

A NICKNAME: No, you can't remove it from within Add/Remove Programmes in XP. However, renaming the folder seems to have done the trick.
