MSN Messenger 6.2 or AOL Broadband

I am on a member of families computer and apparently their MSN Messenger 6.2 has suddenly stopped working. I know for a fact it should because it works on my home computer so it cant be a problem with the server as it suggests so it must be the programme or the Internet Provider which is AOL Broadband. They recently have upgraded to a newer version of this i have understood, but i have no idea what kind, a platinum or somthing. Anyway, does anyone else have this problem or have had this problem? It doesnt even work on the computer that is networked to this 1 upstairs. Could it be a virus as it just suddenly stopped working? The message we get when trying to sign in is " We were unable to sign you in to .NET Messenger Service, possibly because of a problem with the service or with your Internet connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet. 0x81000301"

Any suggestions or help will be much appreciated!
