I have msn messenger 4.7 on my computer. I downloaded the new one to replace it and I now have two versions stuck on my computer and i can't get the old one off as it doesn't show up on the add/remove programs window.

Whatsmore whenever I connect to the internet the old one signs me in even though i have told it not to on the options.

Please help. How do I remove it?

Start, Run, type (or better, paste) in

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

and click OK

i guess that add/remove programs has been tried so maybe a dedicated removal program such as "Ashampoo" its a freebie on a magazine right now

If you have the xp cd not a restore cd you can put that in remove it from there via windows tasks. You can leave both version on and just stop 4.7 loading tools/options untick Automatically sign me in when i log on to windows
and allow auto matic sign in when connected to net,you could also untick let this program run in the background and it shouldnt run at all.
