MSI K7N420 PRO Which Dimm slots to use?

The nForce420D/Award chipset runs best with 2 DDR Dimms fitted. Prob is when I opened the case to upgrade to 512 from 256MB I found that Systemax(Who never bother to reply to tech. queries) has used slot 1 and 3. MSI say Dimms must be populated consecutively starting with Dimm 1 socket. Any ideas?

If you have bought your 256MB as 1 stick just use it in slot 1 then the others in slots 2 & 3.
Normal to have largest stick in slot 1.

Many thanks Rayuk. I bought 2 of 256mb strips because of the nVidia 'Twinbank Technology'. I have found a pic of the motherboard in a review of this PC and the Dimms are in 1 & 3 slots. Im still puzzled as to why.

The nforce chipset uses two channels to read memory, which are slots 1-2 for first channel,3-4 for second channel.Using slots 1-3 uses both channels,so theoreticaly faster.

P:S_if your mobo only has 3 slots,still use 1-3
