mshta.exe problems

  Dougster800 18:04 16 Sep 04

When trying to set up XP pro (sp2) user accounts to function with the 'fast user switching' option, Mcafee detects mshta.exe 'suspicious script' and will not let the tick box to remain checked.

The script is attempting to call the 'RegRead' method within the IWshShell3 object.

Is there anyway around this?

Run SFC from the command line

Goto Start, Run, type cmd, type sfc /scannow

(you will need your Windows CD)

This should check the system file, and McAfee should not detect it anymore.

I have ran Mcafee, AVG and the link above with no problems virus wise.

It just seems that this .exe doesn't like the 'change the way uses log on or off' task.

I have also been advised to change the app. that opens the .hta (notepad) but I couldn't access in the 'choose program' option.

I did change it to 'word' but User Accounts wouldn't open at all.
