Did you reboot the machine and choose F8 to get the prompt, did you reboot with a boot disk to a prompt or did you go to Command Prompt(MSDos prompt) in Windows.

msdos then typed it in

Windows will not commit suicide so it will not perform any self destruct instructions.

You need to create a boot disk and then ensure you add Fdisk and Format to that disk.

Restart the computer with the disk in the floppy drive and perform the instructions you were previously given.

Windows will not commit suicide ? what do you mean. I was told i dont need the disk as those instrutions may work.

How do you create a disc and add format and fdisk

Windows will not allow the disk to be wiped when it is running - like it is when you go into a DOS window from Windows.

You need the DOS window without Windows runing - Hence via F8 or a boot disk.
