msconfig Startup

When I remove an item from Start/Run/msconfig/Startup, and click Apply/OK, then restart as required, the item is checked again. How can I make it 'take'?

It must be somewhere else as well - is it in the startup folder?

Look in services: start, run, services.msc

Or try looking at MikeLin's startup control panel.

Thanks, yes, there is an entry in Services for a Pml Driver HPZ12, which is for my HP printer. This is what I want to stop loading, as it brings up an error message if the printer is not powered up.

It is set to manual. I'm off to Mike Lin's.

I've unchecked the printer in Mike Lin's control panel, what do I do next. please?

I've restarted, and the printer no longer gives the 'Disconnected' icon that was causing the problem. Many thanks, I will post the solution in my other thread!
