if not OK what can i stop running and how do i do it?

It is far too many start ups, but leave your services alone unless you know what you are doing.
To change start ups in msconfig just untick any that are not needed to start. You don't loose them they just don't start until you want them, then reboot your computer.
You may get a message saying you have changed start ups, just tick the box "Do not show this again"
Untick as many as you can leave your operating system and Anti virus alone

Cut down on the programs that load at startup -- Start - Run type msconfig - startup tab- untick everything except for firewall, antivirus and antispyware

and the services that run in the background. click here

List your 30 programs in the msconfig startup tab or even the Ccleaner startup tab and we will tell you what to stop.

rawspawn, when i clicked on the 'information' i get Forresters consulting.

FruitBat, you lost me. i have 36 in start-up and 120 services. which do you want me to tell you about to stop them.
I take it that in the 36 programmes that start in start-up i can stop all except the antivirus and firewall - is that right?
the other 120 are services which i have no idea about.

Don't just stop all programs at start up, I gave an example of your AV and MS system programs, if you can't work it out do as Fruit Bat /\0/\ says and make a list of your start programs and we will help.

I hope all your malware programs are the free versions, if they all run together you will have problems
