in msconfig selective start up there are some items i want to remove,even though they are unticked and uninstalled eg:yahoo messenger,how do i get the of the list?

I think you should have enabled them before you uninstalled the software for them,an idea may be to reinstall yahoo then enable the item and uninstall,there may be 3rd party apps than can remove them as well but i dunno ant off hand.

To remove unwanted registry entries for programs that have been uninstalled, run regedit and navigate to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion.
Expand the Uninstall and in the right pane right click and delete any unwanted entries.

In case you have finger trouble back up the registry (Win98) or make a system restore point (WinME and WinXP) before making the deletions.
