when starting and during using the computer this keeps popping up

16 bit MS-Dos Subsystem

then below that

The NTVDM CPU has encountered an elligal instruction
CS:071e IP:02e0 OP:63 65 be 74 65 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application

Iv'e done a file search and have removed the above a couple of times, but it just keeps returning.

Iv'e also searched the internet and it appears to be some kind of spyware. There is a lot of confusing information about mssb.exe. Iv'e done a scan with Spybot but that does not find it, and its been up-dated.

Does anybody know how to get rid of the problem.

Windows XP Home
Avast Antivirus
Firewall built into the Router

Thanks in advance

But bazb says he's done a Spybot scan.....

There's nothing on the Symantec website with regard to mssb.exe

iv'e done scans with both Spybot and Spyware, they did not find the mssb.exe. I downloaded Ad-awre this found and removed it. fingers crossed everything now seems to be ok.
