MS Word - documents with current date

How do you set up word to open documents with the current date.

I have created a few letters using the drop down function as well as the text from field option. When I open the properties for 'text from field' it gives you the option of current date but don't know if I'm selecting the correct one or not. When I open doc it has old date recorded.

Mant thanks.

You need to check the "automatically update fields" checkbox.

Where do you find option? Went into tools/options/general, couldn't find anything.

In Word select Insert menu

click Date and Time

Highlight the format of date you require

Check the "Update Automatically" box

and click OK

Everytime you open that document in the future it will display today's date
