MS Updates and XP3

  geedad 14:50 21 Aug 08

I normally have MS updates set to auto, but I don't want to install XP3.
Has MS stopped updating XP2?
If they are still updating XP2, then I would wish to continue with auto updates, but at the moment I find it a nuisance clicking the X icon, everytime XP3 update pops up!
And...... I nearly let it install once....heaven forbid!
anyone help on thisplease?

You could go to MS Update, click on Custom, select the SP3 update and `Hide` it. You would still need to update manually each time, but at least you shouldn`t see it and risk downloading it if you really don`t want it.

MS have, I think, moved on and most updates will be for SP3, but some (if not all) will be compatible with SP2.

What is it about SP3 that makes you so determined not to install it?

"What is it about SP3 that makes you so determined not to install it?"

I have read many posts in this forum and it seems that provided I have regularly updated Sp2, there really is no need to go for SP3.
Also, I have tried to update to SP3 once before with almost disastrous results!
As it is, I am also still using IE 6, so perhaps I'm a bit old-fashioned!

(I'll do the Custom bit and Hide.
Thanks for the tip.)
