MS Outlook runtime error

Every time I try to open an e mail I get a warning which says
“Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
"Runtime error!"
"Program:C\Program Files\Microsoft Office\ Outlook.exe"
"abnormal program termination”
The preview pain is showing the e-mail message content. I have also used Outlook Express which will read the e-mail. I have even copied a new outlook.exe in and renamed the old one. I have rerun the installation disk to repair it and reinstalled Outlook without success. The result is still the same. I have also scanned with norton AV for viruses without success.
I am running Win 2000 and Office 2000.
This is driving me up the wall. Any ideas?

Adobe Acrobat 6 appears to have been the culprit. I repaired it after it stopped integrating with other software and hey presto, no more runtime errors in Outlook!
Thanks Stalion for your input and guidance.
