MS Office Compatibility

i need to finish some ICT coursework for tomorrow. I am doing a task using office. Problem is that I started at school using Access 97 and at home i have access 2000. I cannot edit the file unless i convert it to a Access 2000 format but i fear if i do that, once i take it back to school tomorrow, Access 97 will not be able to read it.
Does anyone know if this is the case and any suggestions please...I'm desperate

Access 97 files that are converted to later versions of Access cannot be opened again in Access 97.
