When I enter a search item into the IE Search box, it offers me sites (starting with the same letter) that I have previously visited. How do I get rid of this history and save me the embarrassment of others seeing the sites I have visited in the past? Using the Internet Tools (eg clear hisory etc) doesn't seem to work

Clearing the History folder (in Internet Options)should have cleared the list. Two other ways to try:
1. In Explorer (Right click 'Start/Explore') locate the History folder highlight all items in the right hand window and press Delete on the keyboard.

2. In IE Tools/Internet Options/Browse History/Settings change the setting to zero on days to keep pages in history.

It's also the auto complete function. AC remembers the previous entries and it can be disabled.

IE7 is tools, internet options, content, auto complete settings.
