MS Excel Charting - MSO97.DLL error.

When I try to insert a chart or use the chart wizard I instantly get the error message: "Excel has caused an error in MSO97.DLL. Excel will now close"

I have tried pasting the data values and formats into a new workbook but the error still occurs.

I am using MS Excel97 under Windows ME.

I have used this version of Excel for several years and never had this problem.

The problem can also occur with older files already containing charts.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hoping for a simple solution.

you could try reinstall as first step
then maybe uninstall and reinstall
