Hi I have a pc that has crashed windows xp, do not have restore disc but do have a windows upgrade disc. Am trying to re - copy files but the ms dos commands do not seem to work. Have tried sfc and chkdisc. Any ideas what else might fix it.

I have run as you suggested many thanks. Chkdsk came back everything fine but windows did not start up before this. What else would you suggest the pc won't start up just goes round on a loop every time it gets to windows atart up.

It was coming up on black screen during start up with apati cd - rom .... failure does that mean something significant?

It is trying to boot from the CD drive with no CD in the drive. Muine does that every boot - nothing to worry about.

As in your previous thread click here Kernel32.dll file is missing or damaged. You might be ableto fix this with a repair click here

just ran the kernel32.dll file but it is still going round in a loop. So to re cap I have run recovery console and kernel 32. Still won't start up what can I do?
