MS Backup

I'm using W98SE & want to back up my HD to CD (E drive)using MS Backup. When I get to the point in the Backup Wizard where I click START, a msg appears saying "Media is write protected, remove protection or replace media". I've used Backup before & had no problems, any ideas anyone please?

It won't write to CDs.

It won't write to blank CDs - backup can only write to media like CDs if they are formatted using DirectCD or a simalar program.

Thanks Jester. I wonder what I did last time then? I don't recall formatting them first, pity Backup can't do it.

Well now i'm not so sure. I know Backup can't handle CDs DIRECTLY.

MS Backup won?t recognise your CD burner as a valid backup destination when you first install it, but if you have created an Explorer-style read/write CD-RW (using a utility such as Roxio?s DirectCD) you will be able to choose your burner as a backup destination when the time comes.

What software do you use with your CD writer??
