I have been messing around testing a new database by entering records to see if it does the job, but when I delete the records, make changes to the table design and enter more records, the autonumbering dosn't reset. I am now into double figures and the DB isn't in use yet - can anyone tell me how to reset the number please?

To reset the auto number on access you need to make a new table with one field called the same as the autonumber field and then make an Append Query. You can either find this in the help files or email me and I'll send u the full instructions.

you can only go up and not down, so you have to set it for its max and then add a few.. then set it for one below the figure u actually want..
