Try running System Restore to before things went pear shaped.

  kinger 22:45 25 Feb 05

The original restore disk should have the OS embedded into it. Just do that and you'll get it all back again.

You may need to reinstall AOL though, sadly.

And if that doesn't work click here

Is there a recovery floppy as well that "launches" the CDs.

Please note that running recovery CDs will lose all your documents.

  Bentheika 23:07 25 Feb 05

Yes I have a floppy disc but I have never tried this together,do you put them all on together close down then start up again,I'm a beginner. Thankyou

Put the floppy in the drive then restart. You should then be prompted to insetrt the CDs as required.

You do realise that you will lose all your documents, e-mails and so on, don't you?

Doing this will give you the equivalent of a factory-fresh PC.

Put CD in the CD rom drive

place floppy in the floppy drive

Restart the computer.

It should now start the restore procedure.
