MPEG copying

Hi guys/gals
I have a problem coppying MPEG video files/film from laptop to desktop over a wireless network.
They get copied ok, but the copied file, when played, has errors in that I can only explain as 'flying squares'.
I'm using latest Windoews Media Player.
Thanks in advance

Could be a problem with DRM (Digital Rights Management). The idea is not to let you copy files that are copyrighted onto other computers.

That sounds very much like either a codec issue, or a compression issue.

If you run the codec analyser on the file you're copying - click here

And then reinstall the codec on the desktop, hopefully will work. If you could publish the bitrate of the movie here, could see if its just going to be too much compression.
