mp3 problems

I'm having some problems playing some of my mp3 files on WMP 11 These files will play ok for a while then without warning will refuse to play. Message reads, file type not recognised even though these files have been playing ok for some time. The other files all read as mpeg audio layer 3 which I believe is the same as mp3 but the faulty ones don't appear to have any file names in the properties box, any help will be much appreciated Thanks

The faulty ones could've gotten corrupted.

'...but the faulty ones don't appear to have any file names in the properties box...'

By this, I think you mean extensions? In order to view these, you'll need to go in to any Explorer window > Tools > Folder Options > View tab > untick the entry 'Hide the extensions for known file types' > OK. G

Try the free & Open Source MP3 Check click here to check the faulty files for corruption. G

Sorry, this is the one you need for Windows click here.

The other one is for Linux by the looks of it. G
