MP3 Players and windows media player

Can anyone tell me if there are any mp3 players that don't rely on Windows Media player 11?

I recently helped a friend who had a Sony Walkman to rip cd's to mp3 but the titles and album cover did not show up, is there any way this can be done without Windows Media Player 11.

Have a look at winamp click here you get a track list - not sure about the album cover - maybe more recent version or via a plugin , not something that bothers me

It's a DRM thing I'm afraid. If you rip CD's straight from the original, then Media player or Media centre will find the album art for you.

If you rip MP3 files it won't. I have never tried Winamp so can't comment on it.

Sorry misunderstood - thought you were starting from the CD
