Mp3 device not recognized

  dangerusone 18:18 12 Oct 09

I have a Tevion 4GB mp3 player model number 8875.
I have loaded music on it many times in the past using Windows Media Player to synchronize the music.
I have just tried to install it to change some albums and it is not showing up in My Computer (it usually shows as Drive K).
I've been to "Add Hardware" and pointed it towards Drive J with the installation disc in it (this contains 98 Driver)
I get the message

"error occurred in the installation of Device Mtp 000001
service installation section in this INF is invalid"

The device is playing the music OK but if I cannot change any it's a bit of a bind.

I had similar problems with 3 iPods. In Device manager, check if there is a little warning yellow triangle. If so right click to install drivers. If this still wont work do the same in safe mode.

J.B. I tried that with no joy.

Mat Alan, I updated from Microsoft site and after rebooting the device was recognized.

I had a bit of trouble a few months ago and had to take my PC into my local repair shop who does a fair job and I hadn't updated my music since that happened.Although my problem wasn't related to mp3 or WMP I think this problem must have occurred at that time.
