Moving Icons

As we all know the default for desktop icons is down the left handside. Is there any way you can move them so they stay there i.e along the top or down the right hand side?

Operating system?

You just usually have to just click and drag the icon to where you want it.

Make sure you don't have "Auto arrange" selected when you right click on the desk top and look at arrange Icons.

XP Pro - but I find by dragging, when you shutdown and restart they are back on the left

Looks like you have auto arrange ticked.

Right click on win back ground, arrange icons by, untick auto arrange and tick align to grid. When you have moved the icons they should stay in possition, this works in XP Home

So how did you cure the problem?
