moving cd-writer to another computer

On my relatively new PC I have just replaced my internal cd-writer with a dvd-writer.
I still have my old Dell computer so can I simply put the cd-writer in this by swapping it with the cd-rom drive or adding it as a second drive?
(My current computer is Windows Me, the Dell runs on Windows 95. No driver disks came with my newer computer for the cd-writer - would I need one?)

just change it over

cd-roms do not need drivers

No but you will need software that contains software drivers for your make of drive.

You also need to set the jumpers acording to what you want the CDRW to run as Master or Slave.

Check hear to see if your CDRW is supported by NERO
