Under Windows 98 I should be able to right click on the items in the program list to sort them into alphabetical order but right clicking is not working. Is it likely to be a mouse problem or is there somewhere in windows that turns this on or off?

Is it only the desktop you can't right click?

I am not sure if this works in 98 but right-click on taskbar then select properties>start menu>customize>sort.

Right clicking works everywhere else it should but not on the start menu program shortcuts list

See if a value called "NoChangeStartMenu"
exists in the local registry key
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

If present, set data to zero and or remove that value as you like.

*** Back up your registry before any adventures please ***

you may have to reboot

don't know if this applies to windows 98 but it worked on my freinds xp computer which had the same problem

enabling drag and drop sorted the problem for him, but can't remember where that is on windows 98..but it worked for xp!

just a thought
