Mouse Problem

I have a Genius Optical mouse which the light underneath is flickering rapidly. This only seems to be happening after boot up. When its flickering I can move the mouse, but its incredibly slow and annoying. Even the scroll is slow. It calms down after about 15-20 mins and is works normally.

Its connected via the PS2 port.

I've installed new Genius drivers but no luck.

The hard drive light is NOT flashing.

Any ideas?

Is it a cordless mouse? Check the batteries first.
Then try the following for both corded and cordless.
Use Control Panel Add/Remove Programs to remove all references to Genius Mouse.
Open Device Manager by right clicking My computer, then click on Properties, Hardware Device Manager.
Click on + Mice and other pointing devices to show the mouse you have installed.
Right click and then Uninstall
Reboot computer to allow Windows to find your mouse and if necessary install the new driver from your CD or file when you get the New Hardware Found message.

You could try using a PS2 to USB adapter

Its a corded mouse. But I tried removing the mouse from control panel and let windows find it, which it did. But it still flickers.

I'll see if I can pick an adapter up and try that.
