Mouse freezes when broadband connected

My desktop PC has Windows 98(FE). I have just obtained a broadband connection which works well on my laptop (Windows ME). But I had some difficulty installing the software on the desktop (2 files extra were needed before the installation could be completed and I copied these - isdn.dll and ndiswan.vxd - from my laptop).

However, during the installation process and afterwards the mouse continued to 'freeze' whenever the PC was connected to broadband. As soon as the modem was unplugged the mouse worked normally.

I think the broadband software is now installed properly and the various dialogue boxes show that I am connected to the internet. But I have not been able to overcome the 'freezing mouse' problem.

I would very much welcome advice.
