mouse freeze

hi can anyone advise me please, my mouse pointer keeps freezing for about ten seconds. i am using windows 98se i would be gratefull of any help

Check what is running in the background that you do not need.

Go to start, run and type in

msconfig

then under the startup tab see what is there; most can be disabled.

As I'm having the same problem as Yorkieman, I checked out your link and in Start Up have only got running the things it said were essential to keep, i.e. av, firewall, modems etc. Is there anything else I can do - it's as if something takes control of the mouse and I can't do anything until it releases it. I've only noticed it happening in the last week or two and I haven't installed/altered anything in that time.
Running Win98SE. Any help would be appreciated as it's very frustrating!
