Mouse failed after formating C drive

  Faser 13:56 01 Apr 03

A friend has formated his hard drive and reloaded Win.98. Two weeks later the mouse stopped working and was told by his support team that he needed to find the model of his motherboard (Asus A7V09) and download a driver. This sounds like a Bios upgrade is this normal? We got the mouse working by using the driver from my PC; however he cannot find his motherboard on the Asus website. Comments please.

A mouse does not usually need specific drivers, unless it is a special mouse, eg cordless, optical or the like.

What sort of mouse is it? With batteries?

Has he tried another mouse on the machine?

He has two; both standard corded types. A 2 button and a 3 button, he cannot remember the make. I think I need to go and look at this myself!
