MotiveDirectory

Every time I start my computer I get the message, after a little while, "Motive Directory has caused an error in MCHOOK.DLL" and then another "Motive Directory has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL". and then close etc..
What causes this? Is it harmful? What did I do? The more I learn about computers - the less I seem to know!
Any answers, please.

Fruit Bat/\0/\,
I've looked in add/remove programmes and I don't have the programme you refer to. The only one I have from HP is for my scanner. I can't delete that, it would render my scanner useless. Any more ideas? Thanks anyway.
