Motherboard standoffs advice please

  Faser 17:48 31 Mar 04

I am assembling a PC and in the fixings pack is loads of tiny fibre washers.
The only place I can see for them between the brass standoffs and the motherboard .
I have not used them before, anyone know if they are for this and are they necessary?

They go on the screws to fasten the mobo to the case.If theres enough you can use them on both sides of mobo(case side and mobo side).

They are mainly to stop you damaging the mobo by overtightening screws, I think it will be very difficult to get them to stay in place behind the mobo (ie between stand-offs and mobo) unless you stick them on.

I have never used them behind and I know that some people never use them at all, my current home built PC does not have them under the screws or behind the mobo.

Many thanks guys.

I thought I'd try to fit them as the case has a removable mobo backing-plate that I can lay flat (posh eh).
Guess what they stayed in place first time!
