Motherboard - PSU Compatability

  bgrave 13:30 12 May 06

I am beginning to think about building myself another PC, I have been there before but things seem more complicated now. I have set my sights on a MSI 945 Platinum MB. which seems to support socket 775 & Pentium 4. The Chipset is Intel 945P & ICH7R.

I intend to use a P4 2.6 –2.8 GHz.

I have a preference for Enermax PSU’s and the EG495AX-VE 485 Watts seems to have the right connectors.

My problem is on the Enermax Spec. it quotes support for latest Pentium D (Smithfield) and under ATX 12V V2 Compatible heading , Support latest Pentium P4 Prescott and boards that use 865 (Springdale) & 915 (Alderwood) Chipsets.

Basically my question is :- Is this PSU for me or not. I am a little confused.

Hope you can help BJG.

IS a high end PSU meaning it will cater for the CPU's you've mentioned and anything below it. The PSU is fine for what you need, not sure about the rest of your PC spec but it will also cater for PCI-E, SATA etc etc.

Bit of a detailed spec here for you

Hope this helps
