Motherboard probable failure & Ghost backup.

After having my computor checked after problems with it not being able to see the memory in both slots even after a bios update the shop tell me that the motherboard may fail in the future.

I suggested I make a Ghost image backup but the shop told me that if they replace the motherboard with a new make etc that Ghost will not install my backup image correctly. Is this correct.
