Hi computer novice here but wondering if there is a programme available that shows up any problems with motherboards. Have checked the sight and have used everest and another programme and they don't show any problems but I don't really know what some of the settings etc mean. My soundcard has stopped working suddenly so thought it might be that but have also been having intermitting problems getting my monitor, keyboard and mouse to work. I also have found that my graphics tablet won't work at all. Have checked device manager and it shows everything working so starting to think it might be my motherboard on it's way out. Sorry for long story but as I said still new to all techie stuff.

Hi using xp sp2

motherboard is Abit KV7

Not sure what sound card is but driver disc says Genius Sound maker V1.2

The KV7 has onboard sound

"-Channel Audio and S/PDIF Out interface
Lets you enjoy 6-channel audio without having to buy advanced sound cards."

Are you using that or do you have a seperate sound card?

Use SIW to find out which. click here

was using sound card because couldn't get my mic to work with the on board sound.
Is this what you need to identify my card?

Property Value
Description CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device

Does this on my motherboard description show that there is no probs with my motherboard?

Property Value
Error Correction None

Soz for being a bit thick but as I said not a techie just keep trying to be

" CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device "

that sounds like the chipset on the sound card.

Open the computer and take out the sound card and firmly push it back in.

restart the computer to see if it works.
