Motherboard doesn't recognize all memory

My Abit KV8-MAX3 doesn't recognize 1.5GB of memory but recognize individually, when I put 512 in slot 1 and 1GB in slot 2 it recognizes 1GB. And how do I know if they are in single channel mode.

Dual channel will only work with identical chips.

Swop the memory around so the 1gb is in the first slot and the 512 is in the 2nd, if still not working try then 1 at a time to find which 1 is possibly faulty.
