I want to record some old mono tapes (eventually to CD). When I record to the PC I only get one channel. How can I get it on both channels? Can it be done by altering the cables? or with software?

These are not VHS tapes, they are tape recorder tapes (reel to reel).

They are one channel. I want to convert them to 2.
I do realise it will still be mono.

To do so would double the size as both channels would be the same which you can easily do with Goldwave or others. However it's really a playback thing in setting it for mono which sends the same to both channels.

I've been trying Goldwave and found it quite easy to copy and paste to the other channel.
