As you may well know CoD4 has just been released and i am a major fan.

However, I need a new video card. I am going to get the Sapphire Technology Radeon X1950Pro 512MB GDDR3 AGP8x Dual DVI 580/700.

I have a very old monitor and I am planning on buying a new one. I've been researching them and a lot of the monitors are DVI-D.

So does this mean I need a connector if I'm going to buy a DVI-D monitor?

If you have a DVI monitor and a DVI graphics card, yiu need a DVI-DVI cable. It probably will come with the monitor - but might not - so check and buy one if required.

If you use an old monitor with the new card, or vice versa - you can get adapters. Depends a bit which you buy first - or if you buy together then no adapter required, of course.

The monitors DVI-D and the cards DVI. I just want to know if they are compatible.
