Any advice please on this problem that is driving me mad. AS soon as you turn on the pc the monitor starts flickering from the top down to the middle.I have checked connection cable etc. I did notice my monitor has a menu button, which when pushed brings up a box with various things which are double dutch to me. this flickering last the whole day. It is 2 years old and I have windows xp. Any help welcome. Thanks.

It appears you have alter the Refresh rate, which should be 85MHz to eliminate flicker for the vast majority of users.

Right click on the Desktop>Properties>Settings tab>Advanced button>Adapter tab>Click on List All Modes.

This lists all the colour settings/resolution/refresh rates that your monitor will support using your graphics card.

Select the most appropriate (say 32bit colour/1024x768/85MHz refresh rate) from the list for a 17in monitor and OK your way out of the Display Properties.

This will reset the monitor and should eliminate the flickering.

By the way this is for a CRT and not TFT monitor...:-)
