monitor problem

when i start my old pc up it all goes fine untill the windows xp loading screen comes up then the screen turns black but my monitor has still power to it and everything but there no image
i used to have a geforce 6600gt in it but have now taken it out and put the original nvidia 3 graphics card in (it came with my hp pavilion 790) ive taken off all the software for the geforce caard but its still happening any ideas (im thinking i connected it to a 10year old monitor is the problem)

I think you could be right there casper69. If you have a newer monitor I would suggest that you replace the old one.

Have you tried tapping F8 when computer start and choose safe mode, to see if it will go

It might be that you need to reinstall the drivers for the old graphics card.
