Monitor problem

I've been given a slightly updated PC and managed to hook it up to my old monitor - it was working fine for a couple of hours then suddenly the monitor flashed a few times and then shut down and refused to come back on - the 'standby' light was pulsing rather a than showing a steady light.

The monitor is plugged alongside the PC into a surge protector unit. Do I need a new monitor or can it be saved? Help!

Could be mionitor but that would be a strange co-incidence. More likely to be a suspect graphics card.

My first reaction would be to check that the graphics card has not come lose - also that that the data cable from the card to the monitor is firm at both ends. Also, check your monitor by re-connecting to the old PC and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice - will try tonight and see if I have any luck.
