monitor or system?

i am trying to install a geforce2mx pci graphics card i have installed all the system meets all the requirements i am running win methe only thing that i can think is wrong is my monitor it is an old one it is a ctx 1565 GM the card says i should have a SVGAdual-frequency compatible monitor if i have to what monitor should i get?

i just get a blank screen when i turn it on ,it flashes as if it is trying to display

It sounds as if you do not have a driver loaded for the monitor. Try this right click on desktop choose properties\Settings\Advanced\Monitor\change and choose show all select a generic SVGA monitor and then in the right column choose SVGA about a 1000x700 click Apply click OK and try it
