Monitor Malfunction

I have an Optiquest V115T monitor (21") which seems to switch off after about every 5-10 minutes of use. The switch light stays on but i have to physically switch it off and wait about 5 more minutes then switch it on then it works again but it would go off again. Sometimes it may stay on for a long time but most of the time it will go off after a shot while. Sometimes it comes on if I give it a thump. I know its not a software or a driver problem. I am certain its hardware problem within the monitor. Someone suggested it may be "dry solder joints" on the power circuit in the monitor or could a faulty cable to the pc do this? I would be such a shame to loose this monitor as images are still very sharp. Can someone help please??? Thanks

Definately sounds like a heat related problem (dry joint / voltage stabliser) try taking to local TV repair shop (Not PC world £50 just to look) [yellow pages / thompson local) and ask for a quote to repair.
