monitor flicker

well, it doesn't actually flicker - but every now and then, the sides go in a bit, making the picture momentarily narrower, before returning to normal.

it seems to be happening increasingly often.

i have a 17" CRT taxan ergovision 735 TC099

It's on a refresh rate of 75, running at 1024x768 - pretty standard

I dont know if this could be causing it but by any chance is there a mobile phone anywhere near the monitor at these times?

I don't think it'll be a setting or outside interference - more likely a monitor fault coming on. Difficult to know what's the best course of action in these cases - probably wait until it gets really bad, then decide whether a repair or a new one is better.

Maybe it's still under warranty?

Sounds like either a capacitor on its way out or a "dry" joint on the circuit board. As DieSse suggests, wait and see how it goes, it'll probably be as cheap to replace as repair, plus you get the warranty with a new monitor.
