Monitor for editing

I edit a technical journal and to reduce eye strain and make my work easier, I plan to replace my 17 inch CRT with a flat panel monitor. LG's L1800PK (like the L1800P but with a black bezel)comes out top in PC PRO's October 2003 report on large flat panel monitors. It seems to have the features I need, including(important for editing) the ability to swivel to portrait mode so that a whole page at time can be seen. I would welcome advice from anyone who has used this or a similar LG monitor or who has information to offer. Given that I want it almost exclusively for editing, am I right not to be bothered about a relatively slow response time (30ms) and a low contrast ratio (350:1)?
It costs £468 including VAT. I have no experience of flat panel monitors.
