It's for if all the Colours are mixed up on the Monitor. You should not touch this unless it's realy needed. I have never had to in 11 years of computing

It's something to do with de -magnetising your monitor I think. It's based on or comes from the idea they used in World War 2 to de-magnetise ships hulls so as to make them less vulnerable to torpedo attack via 'sonar' detection and also to make it harder to attatch magnetic limpet mines to the hulls.
Not that I'm suggesting you monitor is at risk from a torpedo attack ! : - /

or a limpet mine for that matter.
