I have a laptop to which I have connected a 20" external monitor. Set up is fine, frequency correct and the display properly centered but.. the mouse cursor travels off the screen at the right. The top, bottom, and left hand side are perfect the cursor stops at the edge of the screen.

Any ideas why?

A guess -
The laptop is configured as widescreen but the monitor is not.

I did set them up independently to the correct settings. However the ATI graphics driver appears to be corrupt. I tried to get an update from the ATI site but they do not support the ATI radeon x600 loaded on my machine. ATI simply referred me back to Sony - the computer manufacturer - which I thought was a bit naff. I will make sure my next machine does not have ATI graphics.

Anyway I unloaded all ATI stuff for a second time, but then cleared all ATI entries in the registry. I reloaded the 2yr old drivers that came with the machine and all works well.

Thanks for you help
