Modem Speed on Shared Line

A friend has had poor modem speed typically 2600 on a 56K modem for some time.Despite complaints to BT asking them to increase the line gain he has had no improvement. They have also refused to renew his dropwire from the telephone pole distribution point to his home as a possible fix.

He has just discovered that he is on a shared line and although assured by BT that this will not affect him I am not sure that this is true.

Can anyone through some light on this?
Cheers

I had a DACS Box in my loft we have 2 lines because my dad lives with us. BT changed it for me and made 2 separate lines I can now get 48000 to 52000. Read this article click here
