modem set up

  tonyx1302 17:43 10 Nov 05

My speedtouch has finally given up the ghost so I have replaced it with a Zoom ASDL modem. On my previous set up when I booted it automatically logged on to the Internet and checked my in box on Hotmail. I now have to click on the Zoom logo on my desktop to connect

As it was a long time ago, I cannot remember how I set this up. I have tried dragging the Zoom logo on my desktop to startup but I cannot get it there.

Any suggestions please

Thanks Fruit Bat. Should have checked their site before panicking but cannot find the solution to the problem on their FAQ

You can right click and Drag a Shortcut to the Startup Folder under programs

I have tried that but when I go to 'start' /'allprogs'and find the start up folder, I then right click on my short-cut logo to drag it to the 'all programmes', the section closes so I cannot put in the start up folder

There must be a way that I can put my desktop icon for Internet connection into the 'startup' folder other than drag and drop which will not work on my pc

Why not?

You need to Run SFC /SCANNOW with your XP CD in comp

Have you tried Control Panel/Appearance & Themes/Taskbar & Start Menu/Customize?
